What Healthpoint Wanted
Healthpoint, New Zealand’s leading health services directory, receives over 600,000 visitors every month and plays a critical role in connecting the public with trusted health information. They set out to transform their search experience with an AI chatbot capable of understanding natural language queries — making it faster and easier for people to find the right services, while ensuring the solution could be secure, reliable, and cost-effective at a national scale.
What We’ve Delivered
We have designed and integrated a fully functional AI chatbot within the Healthpoint platform, delivering:
- A simple, intuitive chat interface with clear service overview cards.
- Infrastructure-as-code deployment tailored to Healthpoint’s network.
- Rigorous testing with 78 evaluation scenarios and 140+ security challenge scenarios.
- End-to-end monitoring of all interactions, token usage, and response times to ensure accuracy and performance.

What’s Next
The next phase is to prepare the chatbot for public release across New Zealand. This work focuses on implementing advanced security guardrails, reducing token usage through semantic routing and caching, and enabling model-switching to bring monthly AI operating costs down without compromising accuracy. Once launched, the chatbot will give the public instant, reliable access to health information and set a new benchmark for AI in the health sector.
